Flying into Helsinki, is always a memorable
experience. It reminds us of how much we
miss the boreal forests of Northern Ontario.
Even though it’s a large city, Helsinki is surrounded by trees, not only
on the outskirt but also within its limits. Since most of our week was spent
with family and friends, I thought I would create a video with some of the
photographs we took. I haven’t asked
anyone’s permission to use their photos because I’ve made sure to unlist the
video which means that unless you have the URL from this blog, you can’t access
it. So, I please ask that you do not publicly share it, either.
One last thing about this trip, that I would like to share. For the first time in many years, I had the
opportunity to sit by the window, on the plane ride back to Frankfurt (the
closest major airport). If you haven’t
flown into Europe, this may be difficult to visualize, and I really wish that I
had taken a photo but the view on this flight was awesome. As we started our decent, the clouds were so
thick and fluffy, it felt like you could just jump into them and they would
envelop you, then under the clouds, the landscape was like a patchwork quilt of
different shades of green and brown surrounding villages that look tiny from
this height. As we kept descending, there was a point when I felt like I was
looking at a photo with the miniature setting on, it was very strange and then
all of a sudden, we were in the city of Frankfurt. I wish I could show you the pictures in my
head!
Enjoy! Julie
