I’m not exactly an expert
on cars, let alone classic cars but I do know what I like to look at from an
artistic point of view. In North
America, we seem to focus mostly on muscle cars as the beauties of classic cars
but here in Europe, it’s quite different.
It’s difficult to explain without sounding like a car snob. So I will say, that the cars that are on
display, look like they are either of an elegant class of vehicles or they were
the original racing/rally cars. Here are
some photos of parked cars but I have to add, that it’s really quite a sight to
see when they are driving, at a snail’s pace, with their passengers often
dressed in period clothing. I can’t give
you the name of these beauties because I’m just not that knowledgeable, but you
won’t find any Ford, Mustang, Chrysler and Pontiacs here. Instead, you’re
looking at Delage, Bugatti, Facel Vega, Talbot, Hotchkiss, Jaguar, Austin
Healy, Citroën, Salmson and
Delahaye.
Viel Vergnügen!

We encountered a similar looking car show in London, displaying European vintage models on a cobbled street amongst the shops rather than the usual 50's/60s fare gathered in the parking lot of a Sobey's.
ReplyDeleteOddly enough, the automotive industry adopted the British terms 'boot' and 'bonnet' to indicate trunk and hood. At least they do in the Japanese-transplant automotive facilities- I can't speak to the practice of the "big three".
